Jonathan is a native of Robeson County and was raised in Red Springs, North Carolina. After graduating from Red Springs High School, he continued his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2006, an Associate Degree in Funeral Service from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 2007, and an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science from Robeson Community College in 2017.


Jonathan has nearly 20 years of experience working in the funeral service industry in both part-time and full-time capacities. He has also served in Emergency Medical Services in both paid and volunteer roles since the age of 18. Most recently, Jonathan worked as a House Supervisor at UNC Southeastern and currently serves as a Medical Examiner for Robeson County.

Jonathan is married to Kasei Lester Prather, a licensed cosmetologist who most recently graduated from the Funeral Directors Program at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Together, Jonathan and Kasei have four children: Ashleigh, Micah, Izabella, and Ezra. Micah is currently pursuing his Funeral Service License at Fayetteville Technical Community College.
